Rumi – Some thoughts – 5

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere.
They’re in each other all along.”

[Rumi]

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.”

Love is one of the most beautiful things created by God, and one of the most misunderstood things perceived by man.

Reason: Love…
– carries way deeper manifestations than we perceive it
– is way above our two-plus-two-four
– is way free, independent and liberal than we judge, limit and subjectify it
– is way clean and pure than we pollute it
– is way sacred than we baptise or mullah-fy it
– is way truer that we deny it
– is way unconditional than we bargain it
– is way elevated than we rate it
– is way simple than we make it complex and abstract

Most of all, it needs sacrifice, longing, commitment, consistency, good intents – things which are almost “endangered species” in our world today. Mohabbat ki raah mein aanay kay liye, “dil-lagee” bhool jaani parrti hai. Dil kay mandar mein SIRF aik ‘butt’ ki gunjaaish hua karti hai….. Pur ye samajh aatay aatay samajh khatam ho jaati hai… [~ hosh waalon ko khabar kiya, be-khudi kiya cheez hai…]

Love is in the dua for Taaif people (even when their brutal acts crossed all limits). It is about sacrificing a son by his father (even when knowing it). It is the jump into fire (deliberately). It is the care-taking and asking well being of a person who drops trash onto one’s head, daily. It is in the lap of mother, in the prayer of sister, in the eyes of a father, in the hug of a kid, and in the heart of a beloved-soul.

Love is the litmus of pure versus everything else.

~ Mohabbat kay dinon mein dasht bhi mehsoos hota hai, kisi firdous ki soorat…..

We define things in our own perspective. Whatever we have seen, felt or tasted, heard or smelled, perceived or experienced. Love is like a ghost to most, because they have not lived it.

~ Mohabat bandagee hai, iss mein tan ka qurb mat maango
Kay jis ko chhoo liya jaaye, usay pooja nahin kartay…..

….and any form of love which does not eventually elevate us to Allah, is self-contradictory.

P.S. Mehboob wo hai, jiska bura bhi acha lagay…

P.P.S. ~ Ish’q hounda heereyaan de wargha, aiy sub toun lukaayi da, paaghla….. [Satinder Sartaaj]

[This post was contributed to Writer’s Haven blog, and was published there as comments on this post, as part of Rumi’s Legacy – a subject which connects us back to the direction we’ve lost over the decades and centuries. A commendable effort by Samana Syed.

My gratitude all the way for reading it through…..]
