The ancient Greeks believed humans had four fundamental personality types:

  • Sanguine (enthusiastic, active, and social) == Related to: Air
  • Choleric (short-tempered, fast, or irritable) == Related to: Fire
  • Melancholic (analytical, wise, and quiet) == Related to: Earth
  • Phlegmatic (relaxed and peaceful) == Related to: Water
